The Stricto Sensu Graduate Program in Production Engineering at UNIP – PPGEP, since its creation in 1997, has developed a Strategic Plan (PE), updated annually and reformulated every three or four years. Through the PE, the performance of the four-year period is analyzed, the execution of the foreseen goals, eventual failures and their causes, as well as new values or trends added by CAPES for each evaluation period. The PPGEP evolved into a highly participatory, transparent and open management format with the creation of the Doctorate in 2007. The Program's stakeholders began to have an active presence in the discussions, programming, preparation of proposals and, especially, in the execution of tasks to achieve the desired results. Due to this management model, especially teachers and students, committed to results, have been tracing an upward curve of growth with quality. The Program significantly increased participation in national and international events, with emphasis on publications by professors and students at international events. The number of publications in periodicals with international circulation tripled in 2009 and, in that same year, four books were published on the topics of research carried out by the Program's professors and students. Several agreements have been established and are in progress, with intense activity in research projects, postdoctoral studies, holding events with universities in Sonora (Mexico), Shanghai (China), Porto (Portugal), Universidad de la Costa – CUC (Colombia), Siena University (Italy), Universidad de Oriente (Cuba), Beijing Normal University (China), Università degli Studi di Firenze (UniFI) (Italy), among others.

The Program expanded its agreements with the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo with the aim of promoting and disseminating scientific cooperation actions to raise the awareness of professionals in the productive sector and the academic environment about the importance of cleaner production practices.

As a result of the efforts and dynamics adopted by the Program in line with CAPES guidelines, the PPGEP was evaluated with grade 5 (five) in the last two evaluations, in 2012 and 2016. The Program is making every effort to obtain grade 6 (six) in the next assessment.
