Ementa:

O câncer apresenta-se como importante problema na saúde única, exibindo elevada morbidade e mortalidade em todo o mundo. Sua incidência tem crescido nos animais de companhia, em particular em cães e gatos, associado à maior sobrevida em animais domiciliados. Em paralelo o conhecimento da biologia do processo cresce exponencialmente nas últimas décadas, em particular atrelado ao avanço da biologia molecular. Neste contexto a disciplina visa abordar elementos relevantes da biologia tumoral, salientando aspectos de oncologia comparada, dentro de um enfoque celular e molecular, destacando-se:

  • Epidemiologia das neoplasias
  • Oncologia comparada;
  • Conceito, classificação e diferenças entre neoplasias benignas e malignas, protocolos de graduação neoplásica;
  • Princípios de diagnóstico oncológico: cito e histopatologia;
  • Genética e epigenética no câncer;
  • "Hallmarks of cancer";
  • MIcroambiente tumoral: imunidade, fibroplasia e vasculogênese tumoral (significado biológico, contexto molecular, padrões de organização, marcadores e quantificação),
  • Mecanismos de disseminação de tumores;
