Programa de Pós-Graduação Stricto Sensu em Comunicação

Academic Year 2026 (First semester)

The Stricto Sensu Graduate Program in Communication announces the opening of registration for the selection process for candidates at the Master's and Doctoral levels, aiming to fill remaining vacancies for the first semester of the 2026 academic year. The registration period is from December 16, 2025, to January 30, 2026.

Application will be made online only.

The candidate must choose one of the following modalities:

Regular modality

Registration for Masters

Doctoral Registration

Observatory modality of misinformation and intolerance (ODI)

Doctoral Registration

The candidate must submit the following documents:

  1. Copy of identity card (preferably) or other identification document with national validity, for Brazilian candidates;
  2. Copy of birth or marriage certificate;
  3. Copy of CPF;
  4. Copy of the academic transcript of the undergraduate course(s);
  5. Double-sided copy of the diploma(s) of the registered undergraduate course(s) of a course recognized by the MEC;
  6. Double-sided copy of the Master's degree diploma, for PhD candidates;
  7. Copy of Academic Transcript of the Master's Course, for Doctoral candidates;
  8. Documented curriculum vitae (preferably Lattes);
  9. Pre-project which includes: theme proposal, presentation, objective and bibliography, according to the model ANNEX I, on p. 11 of this Notice (*);
  10. Registration fee in the amount of R$ 45.00(**);
  11. Copy of proof of payment of the registration fee.

Foreign applicants must also submit:

  1. Copy of the National Foreigners Registry (RNE)/National Migration Registry (RNM) or document proving legal residence in Brazil;
  2. CELPE-BRAS certificate of sufficiency in Portuguese (http://portal.inep.gov.br/acoes-internacionais/celpe-bras). The registration protocol for the exam may be accepted.

Applicants who attended undergraduate or Master's degrees in foreign institutions must submit the following documents:

  1. Copy of academic transcript and duly revalidated graduation course diploma, according to current legislation, except in the case of international agreements, provided that they are incorporated by Brazil;
  2. Copy of academic record and Master's degree, duly recognized by a Brazilian program recognized by CAPES, for Doctoral candidates.

(*) The Pre-Research Project must bring relevant elements to the Communication Area and/or adhere to the scope of research carried out by professors linked to the Program, as provided at the address: https://www.unip.br/cursos/pos_graduacao/strictosensu/comunicacao/corpo_docente.aspx
The Pre-Research Project presented in the selection process may change if the candidate is selected.

(**) The registration fee must be paid by bank slip generated at the end of completing the online registration form.
The bank slip cannot be paid at the UNIP treasury.

The registration fee will not be refunded if the candidate is not classified for any stage of the selection process.

In case of any issue related to the generation or payment of the invoice, it is recommended to contact directly the Secretary of the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Program in Communication.

Candidates must send digital copies of the documents, in PDF format, to the email: pgcomunicacao@unip.br and wait for confirmation of receipt. Only legible copies in original sizes will be accepted.
In case of approval in the selection process, all documents must have their originals presented at the time of registration.

It shall not be accepted enrollments with partial delivery of the documentation or illegible documents and that do not meet strictly the provisions established herein.

The personal data provided by candidates will be used exclusively for the purposes of this selection process for admission to the Program, in accordance with Law No. 13,709/2018 (General Data Protection Law – LGPD).

By applying, candidates acknowledge that their names may be disclosed in official publications and on the Program's website, in accordance with the principle of transparency set forth in Article 6, item VI, of the LGPD.

The selection of the Master and Doctorate Program comprises:

Phase I - Eliminatory
Registration will only be validated upon payment of the bank slip, sending the full documentation within the stipulated deadline and the choice of one of the two available modalities: regular modality or observatory modality of misinformation and intolerance (ODI).

Phase II - Only to candidates approved in Phase I
Written Test, Interview, Examination of Proficiency in Foreign Language and Analysis of the Research Project.

In lieu of the foreign language proficiency exams for admission to the Graduate Program in Communication, the Secretariat will only accept the certificates listed below:

  1. English: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) - minimum of 213 points; certificate valid for two years; and, IELTS (International English Language Test System) - minimum of 6.0 points; certificate valid for two years.
  2. French: Certificate from the Alliance Française, with a minimum of 70 points and valid for one year.
  3. Spanish: DELE (Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language), intermediate level from the Instituto Cervantes.

Candidates for the Doctoral program must demonstrate proficiency in a foreign language other than that demonstrated at the time of obtaining their master's degree. To this end, they may present a certificate that meets the criteria established above.

STAGE I – REGISTRATION AND DOCUMENT SUBMISSION
From December 16, 2025 to January 30, 2026.
Registration will only be validated upon payment of the bank slip and submission of complete documentation within the stipulated deadline.

STAGE II - SELECTION EXAMS FOR CANDIDATES APPROVED IN STAGE I
February 3, 2026 (Tuesday): Knowledge Test – 9:00 AM.
                                                Foreign Language Proficiency Test – 11:00 AM.
February 4, 2026 (Wednesday): Interview – starting at 9:00 AM.

SELECTION RESULTS
February 4, 2026 (Wednesday), starting at 6:00 PM – Announcement of approved candidates.

Enrollments must be made in person at the Program Office on February 5 and 6, 2026, at which time the candidate must:

  1. Submit the following original documents:
    a) Identity Card or other identification document with national validity, for Brazilian candidates;
    b) CPF;
    c) Birth or Marriage Certificate;
    d) Diploma of the Undergraduate Course of a course recognized by the MEC, registered;
    e) Academic Transcript of the Undergraduate Course of a course recognized by the MEC;
    f) Diploma of the Master's Course in a course recommended by CAPES, registered, for candidates to the Doctorate;
    g) Academic Transcript of the Master's Course in a course recommended by CAPES, for PhD candidates;
    h) 2 3x4 photographs (recent).

    Foreign applicants must also submit:
    1) National Registry of Foreigners (RNE)/National Migration Registry (RNM) or document proving legal residence in Brazil;
    j) CELPE-BRAS certificate of proficiency in Portuguese.

    Candidates who have attended undergraduate courses in foreign institutions must present the following documents:
    k) Academic transcript and diploma of the graduation course duly revalidated, according to the current legislation, except in the case of international agreements, as long as they are incorporated by Brazil.
    l) Academic record and Master's degree, duly recognized by a Brazilian program recognized by CAPES, for Doctorate candidates.
  2. Sign the Educational Services Agreement.
  3. Choose the subjects to be taken in the semester.
  4. Withdraw the ticket to pay the registration fee.

Note: Application for PROSUP scholarships is separate from application for the course selection process. Therefore, participation in the course selection process does not, in itself, imply application for the scholarship.
On an exceptional basis—considering the reduced calendar for the remaining vacancies selection process—candidates may apply for the PROSUP scholarship during the same period in which they apply for the Program admission selection process.
