Programa de Pós-Graduação Stricto Sensu em Comunicação

Academic Year 2021 (second semester)

The Stricto Sensu Graduate Program in Communication, at the Doctoral level, announces the opening of applications for the selection of candidates to fill the remaining vacancies for the second semester of the 2021 academic year in the period from July 5th to 30th, 2021.

The candidate shall have to present the following documents:

  • Copy of identity card or other nationally valid identification document for Brazilian candidates;
  • Copy of birth or marriage certificate;
  • Copy of CPF;
  • Copy of the academic record of the undergraduate course(s);
  • Copy of the master's course transcript;
  • Copy of the graduation diploma of a course recognized by the MEC;
  • Copy of the master's degree from the course recommended by CAPES;
  • Documented Lattes Curriculum;
  • Pre-project which includes: introduction, object, objectives (general and specific), justification, preliminary hypotheses, method, schedule and bibliography (*);
  • Registration fee in the amount of R$ 45.00 (**);
  • Copy of proof of payment of registration fee.

Foreign candidates must submit as well:

  • Copy of the National Registry of Foreigners (RNE) or document proving regular stay in Brazil;
  • CELPE-BRAS certificate of sufficiency in Portuguese. The registration protocol for the exam may be accepted.

Candidates who attended an undergraduate or Master's degree in foreign institutions must submit the following documents:

  • Copy of the academic record and the diploma of the graduation course duly validated, according to the current legislation, except in the case of international agreements, as long as they are incorporated by Brazil.
  • Copy of academic record and Master's degree, duly recognized by a Brazilian program recognized by CAPES, for Doctoral candidates.

(*) The Research Pre-Project must bring relevant elements to the Communication Area and, preferably, adhere to the scope of research carried out by the professors linked to the Program, as provided at the address:
The Research Pre-Project presented in the selection process may change, if the candidate is selected.

(**) The registration fee must be paid by bank slip generated at the end of completing the online registration form.
The bank slip cannot be paid in the UNIP treasury.

Candidates must send digital copies of the documents, in PDF format, to the email: Only legible copies in original sizes will be accepted.
In case of approval in the selection process, all documents must have their originals presented at the time of registration.

Applications will not be accepted with partial delivery of documentation or illegible documents that do not strictly comply with the provisions of this Notice.

The selection of Doctorate comprises:

Phase I - Eliminatory
The enrollment shall only be validated upon payment of the bank payment slip and sending full documentation within the time limit set.

Phase II - Only to candidates approved in Phase I
Written Test, Foreign Language Proficiency Examination and Pre-Research Project Analysis.

Phase III - Only to candidates approved in Phases I and II
Interview with candidates approved in Phases II.

1- In replacement of the Foreign Language Proficiency Examination for admission to the Stricto Sensu Graduate Program in Communication, Doctoral level, the Secretariat will only accept the certificates listed below:

a) English: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) - minimum of 213 points and validity of two years or IELTS (International English Language Test System) - minimum of 6.0 points and validity of two years.
b) French: Certificate of the Alliance Française, with a minimum of 70 points and valid for one year.
c) Spanish: DELE (Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language), intermediate level of Instituto Cervantes.

2 - In case of presentation of a certificate or taking a Proficiency Examination in a Foreign Language for admission to the Doctoral Program, the candidate must present proficiency in a foreign language different from that which was assessed in the scope of the Master's Degree.
3 - Failure to attend any of the tests in Stage II or the interview provided for in Stage III will imply the automatic elimination of the candidate from the selection process.
4 – Research pre-projects will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

a. pertinence to the area of ​​Communication and, in particular, to the Area of ​​Concentration in Media Culture;
b. relevance of the academic and scientific contribution present in the project;
c. adherence to one of the lines of research and one of the research projects developed by the professors (as set out above, in this Notice).

5 – Incomplete submission of pre-projects, considering the provisions of REGISTRATION - item i, may result in disqualification of the candidate.

From July 5th to 30th, 2021: Registration and delivery of documents
The registration will only be validated by paying the bank slip and sending the complete documentation within the stipulated period.

August 2, 2021 (Monday): Written Test – 9 am and Proficiency in Foreign Language – 11 am

August 3, 2021 (Tuesday): Disclosure of the candidates selected for the interview, from 6 pm
August 4, 2021 (Wednesday): Interviews, from 9 am

IMPORTANT: The interview will be conducted via videoconference, using the Zoom software. The written and proficiency test will be carried out by the Google Forms platform.
The link to the interview (Zoom) will be sent later by the advisor professor and the link to the test (Google Forms) will be sent by the Program secretary, both by email.

August 4, 2021 (Wednesday), from 6 pm – Disclosure of approved

Enrollments must be made in person at the Program Office, between August 5 and 6, 2021, at which time the candidate must:

  1. Submit the following original documents:
    a) Identity card or other nationally valid identification document for Brazilian candidates;
    b) CPF;
    c) Birth or marriage certificate;
    d) Graduation Course Diploma of course recognized by MEC, registered;
    e) School History of the Undergraduate Course recognized by MEC;
    f) Registered Masters Course Diploma recommended by CAPES, registered;
    g) School History of the Master's Course in a course recommended by CAPES;
    h) 2 3x4 photographs (recent).

    Foreign candidates must submit as well:
    i) National Register of Foreigners (RNE) or evidentiary document as regards regular residence in Brazil;
    j) CELPE-BRAS Certificate of sufficiency in Portuguese language.

    Candidates that have a degree in foreign institutions must submit the following documents:
    k) Academic transcript and graduation diploma duly revalidated, according to current legislation, except in the event of international agreements, provided that are incorporated by Brazil.
  2. Sign the Contract for Provision of Educational Services;
  3. Make the choice of the subjects to be studied in the semester;
  4. Take the bank payment slip for the payment of the registration.
