Syllabus

DNA and mRNA Molecule: structure, organization, and functions. Epigenetics: DNA methylation and hydroxyl-methylation, changes in histones and chromatin structure: fundamental basic concepts. Epigenetic Regulation: enzymes involved in DNA methylation and hydroxyl-methylation processes. DNA and RNA extraction: nucleic acid extraction methods. Analysis of global DNA methylation and hydroxyl-methylation and in specific genes. Activity analyses of the enzymes of the epigenetic machinery. Design of primers. Quantitative PCR for DNA methylation and hydroxyl-methylation. (Hydroxyl) Methyloma: technique and expected results.
